Masjid Um-Al-Mumineen Aisha is currently under construction in the holy city of Harar. I met with some of the committee members who are in charge of constructing this masjid during my trip to Harar. They asked me to pass along their request for assistance in completing the construction of the masjid.

As many of you might know, most of the masjids in Harar are located within the Jogol due to the restrictions that were placed by the previous governments on where the people can live and/or build Masjids. Land allocations for Hararis and Muslims outside of the Jogol were extremely difficult to near impossible in the past. However, all that oppressive policies changed with the advent of the new government in 1991. Now Hararis and Muslims can buy land and construct their homes, schools, businesses, and masjids anywhere they wish to ? whether it is inside the Jogol or outside.

Due to the natural growth of the population and availability of land - the Harari and Muslim population in general is moving outside of the Jogol and there is a need to meet the spiritual needs of these citizens. It is for this reason that the citizens of Harar embarked in the construction of a masjid outside of Jogol. They are appealing for assistance in completing this masjid.
