Assalamu alaykum wr wb.
Wishing you all a happy, blessed and Imaan increasing 12th of Rabi ul awwal, the day when a large number of Muslims (esp Sunnis) celebrate the birthdate of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his blessed progeny).
the day also marks the beginning of what has been dubbed 'Unity Week' ie from 12th to 17th Rabi ul awwal (when our shia bretheren celebrate the Prophets birthdate). During this week, Muslims all over the globe take part in activities to promote and foster Unity and brotherhood among Muslims.
When we mention the Prophets name or hear it being mentioned, we are told to send blessings upon him, and the Qur'an has given us the perfect guideline as to how to do it. This is one Ibaadah which Allah (SWT) has Himself involved Himself in, as the Qur'an says:
"InnaLlaha wa malaaikatahu yuswalluna 3alan-nabii; Ya ayyuhal-lladheena aamanu, swallu 3alayhi wa sallimuu tasleema"
ie Surely God and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet; O you who believe, send blessings upon him and do so completely."
When the Prophets (SAWW) companions asked him how they should send blessings upon him, he said, say: Allahumma swalli 3alaa Muhammad wa aali Muhammad. ie O Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad.
with peace. |
